QUALIFICATIONS:Regular Full Time Degree / Masters in Mechanical Engineering
(Part Time or Correspondence Courses will not be considered).
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 20 years on Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical / Utilities / Substation projects

As Head of Engineering, the person shall be responsible for the complete design and detailed engineering of Mechanical system for the projects that are executed in the geographical domain covering multiple countries that is assigned to him. Mechanical system shall include HVAC, Fire Protection & Fire Alarm System, EOT crane, potable water system etc associated with Electrical EHV substations and electrical plant distribution substations of large Industrial plants/ Utilities.
The Head of Engineering shall manage the entire Engineering and design for the projects including co-ordination of multi-discipline interface activities covering, Electrical, Civil/ Structural and others. The engineering activities shall cover the full cycle of works from pre-bid engineering to support during commissioning and warranty periods.
Shall lead a team of Project Engineering Managers, Lead Engineers, Engineers and draftspersons to manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering.
HoE - MEP shall have overall expertise in HVAC, FPS, EOT crane, C&I works related to Mechanical for Substations, Power plants, Oil & gas industries & Industrial buildings.
HVAC engineering activities cover plant room sizing, Cooling / heating load calculations, smoke ventilations, stairwell pressurization, Pressure drop calculations, HVAC ducting layouts, chiller/ other HVAC equipment selections, etc.
FPS engineering activities cover General hydraulics engineering, Fire pump capacity/ Head estimation, plant room sizing, Pressure drop calculations, Hydrant, FDA, Sprinkler, Deluge spray system, gas suppression layouts, selection of Main equipment’s /other Ancillaries, etc.
EOT/ monorail hoist engineering activities cover selection of cranes, Hoists, wire ropes, lift & other Ancillaries, etc.
HoE - MEP shall be able to provide expert support for all mechanical Vendor engineering documents.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Must be capable of Multitasking and deliver multiple things on time.
Ensuring Preparation of Engineering Plan aligned with the project, implementing the plan, monitoring and control for all projects
To ensure pre-bid engineering support is with high level of accuracy and guide the team to identify and mitigate risks in the engineering inputs to tendering.
Delegation of work to team and getting the things work done.
Must be capable of reading the Contract specification and tracking the job variation with respect to SOW and supporting the BU/project for enabling the contractual claim.
Able to lead, Guide the team for achieving the management targets
Reviewing and ensuring optimum design before submission to client.
Ensuring quantity control of Lot items for Air conditioning & fire protection system.
Managing the vendor engineering documents and getting approval from the Client on a timely basis to enable issue of manufacturing clearance.
Performing pre-order technical review for ordering of equipment and supporting the BU to take techno-commercial decision.
Co-ordinate with the Engineering team at project location and ensure a smooth work execution between the teams at multiple locations
Managing sub-consultants and co-ordination of engineering from multiple agencies
Risk analysis and take clear decisions after analyzing the risk and issuing manufacturing clearance.
Proactive interaction with project execution team for resolving the problem.
Regular interaction with the Country Operations to ensure that pending issues are resolved with Client / Consultant and Vendors for smooth progress of the project.
Familiar with engineering software like -HAP, Pipe net, FHC, Sprinkcal, Honeycomb, Elite etc.
Responsible for the overall mechanical engineering activities of the project takes place as per the accepted schedule.
Responsible for the overall cost of the mechanical system with respect to the profit margins.
Manpower utilization and competency management of the Mechanical team shall be the responsibility of Head of Engineering – MEP.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with specialization in HVAC and / Fire protection systems, preferred.
20 + Years of Experience out of which at least 5 years in managing large teams and managing work from different centres in a work share mode.
Leadership & ability to work with peer group in arriving at solutions.
Team building and developing talent
Good Knowledge of Mechanical International Standards & Practices.
Effective Computer Skills, MS Office, Discipline Specific Software’s & Applications.
Effective Communication skills both verbal and in Writing.
